1) Princes September, the daughter of the king of Siam, was very unhappy.
= সিয়ামের রাজার কন্যা রাজকুমারী সেপ্টেম্বর খুব অসুখী ছিল ।
2) She was weeping alone one day in her own room when she saw a little bird hop in.
= একদিন সে তার নিজের ঘরে কাঁদছিল, যখন সে দেখতে পেল একটা ছোট পাখি লাফিয়ে লাফিয়ে তার ঘরে ঢুকল । (hop-হপ, উইপিং)
3) Then the little bird began to sing.
= তারপরে ছোট্ট পাখিটি গান করতে শুরু করল ।
4) He sang a beautiful song all about the lake in the king’s garden and the willow trees reflected in the still water.

24) “Safety first,” said her sisters ominously.

1) Suddenly, September heard a tweet-tweet just behind her ear.
= হঠাৎ সেপ্টেম্বর তার কানের কাছে এক কিচির-মিচির শব্দ শুনতে পেল । ( suddenly-সাডেনলি,tweet- টুইট )
2) The bird has come in quietly.
= পাখিটি নিঃশব্দে ঘরের ভিতরে এসেছে । ( quietly-কোয়াইটলি )
3) September felt her heart go thump-thump against her chest, and she made up her mind to take no more risks.
(thump-থাম্প, risks- রিস্কস )
= সেপ্টেম্বর অনুভব করল তার হৃতপিন্ডটা বুকের কাছে ধক ধক করছে , এবং সে স্থির করল আর কোনো ঝুঁকি নেবে না ।
4) She put up her hand and took hold of the bird.
=সে হাত বাড়িয়ে দিল এবং পাখিটিকে ধরে ফেলল ।
5) The bird was quite used to this, so he suspected nothing.

9) “Well, just for this once I don’t mind” said the little bird, “so long as you let me out in the morning”.
= “বেশ শুধু এই একবারের জন্য আমি কিছু মনে করব না ”, ছোট্ট পাখিটা বলল, “ যদি তুমি সকাল বেলায় আমায় ছেড়ে দাও ” ।
10) He ate a very good supper and began to sing.
= সে ভালো করে রাতের খাবার খেল ও গান গাইতে শুরু করল ।
11) But in the middle of his song he stopped.

12) “I don’t know what the matter with me is”, he said, “but I don’t feel singing tonight”.

14) So he put his head under his wing and in a minute was fast asleep.

15) September went to sleep too.

16) But when the dawn broke she was awakened by the little bird calling her at top of his voice, “Wake up, wake up”, he said.

18) I want to have a good fly while the dew is still wet on the ground”.

19) “You’re much better off where you are,” said September.
= সেপ্টেম্বর বলল, “ তুমি যেখানে রয়েছ , সেখানে তুমি অনেক ভালো রয়েছ ” ।
20) “You have a beautiful golden cage!
= তোমার একিটি সুন্দর সোনালী খাঁচা রয়েছে । (golden- গোল্ডেন )
21) “Let me out, let me out,” said the little bird.
= ছোট্ট পাখিটা বলল, “ আমাকে বের করে দাও, আমাকে বের করে দাও ” ।
22) “You’ll have three meals a day.
= “ তুমি দিনে তিন বার খাবার পাবে ” । ( meals- মিলস )
23) You’ll have nothing to worry you from morning till night, and you can sing to your heart’s content.”
= সকাল থেকে রাত অবধি তোমার কোনো চিন্তা থাকবে না, আর তুমি প্রানের আনন্দে গান করতে পারবে । ( worry- ওরি, heart’s – হার্টস , content- কনটেন্ট )
24) The little bird tried to slip through the bars of the cage, but he couldn’t.
= ছোট্ট পাখিটি খাঁচার গরাদের মধ্যে দিয়ে গলে যাওয়ার চেষ্টা করলো , কিন্তু পারল না । ( tried- ট্টরায়েড, slip- স্লিপ )
25) He beat against the door but of course he couldn’t open it.
= সে দরজায় আঘাত করল কিন্তু অবশ্যই সে দরজাটি খুলতে পারল না ।
26) He began to cry again : “Let me out , let me out!”
= সে আবার চিৎকার চিৎকার শুরু করল, “ আমাকে বের করে দাও, আমাকে বের করে দাও ” ।
27) “I’ve only put you in the cage because I’m so fond of you”, said princess September.
= রাজকুমারী সেপ্টেম্বর বলল, “ আমি তোমার খাঁচায় রেখেছি কারন তুমি আমার খুব প্রিয় ” ।
28) But the little bird stood in the corner of his cage, looking out at the blue sky, and never sang a note.
= কিন্তু ছোট্ট পাখিটি নীল আকাশের দিকে তাকিয়ে খাঁচার এক কোনে দাঁড়িয়ে রইল, কিন্তু একটা সুরও তার গলা দিয়ে বের হল না ।
29) “Why don’t you sing and forget your troubles?” said September.
= সেপ্টেম্বর বলল, “ কেন তুমি গান করে তোমার কষ্ট ভুলে যাচ্ছ না ?” ( torubles- ট্রাবলস )
30) “How can I sing?” answered the bird.
= পাখিটি উত্তর দিল ,” কেমন করে আমি গান করব ?”
31) I want to see the trees and the lake and green rice growing in the fields.”
= আমি গাছপালা, হ্রদ, আর মাঠে সবুজ ধান জন্মেচ্ছে দেখতে চাই ।
32) “If that’s all you want, I’ll take you for a walk”, said September.
= সেপ্টেম্বর বলল, “যদি এই সবকিছু তুমি চাও তাহলে আমি তোমাকে বেড়াতে নিয়ে যাব ।

Unit-3
1)She picked up the cage and walked down to the lake round which grew the willow trees.
= সে খাঁচাটকে তুলে নিল আর হাঁটতে হাঁটতে গেল হ্রদের ধারে যেকানের চারপাশে উইলোগাছ গজিয়ে উঠেছিল ।
2) She stood at the edge of the rice-fields that stretched as far the eye could see.
= সে ধান ক্ষেতগুলির কিনারায় দাঁড়াল যেগুলো যতদূর চোখ যায় ততদূর অবধি বিস্তৃত । ( edge- এজ, stretched- স্ট্রেচড )
3) “I’ll take you out everyday,” she said.
= সে বলল, “ আমি তোমাকে রোজ বাইরে নিয়ে যাব ” ।
4) “I love you and I only want to make you happy.”
= “আমি তোমাকে ভালোবাসি আর শুধু তোমাকে সুখী করতে চাই ” ।
5) “It’s not the same thing”, said the little bird.
=” ছোট্ট পাখিটি বলল, “ এটা এক জিনিস নয় ” ।
6) The rice fields and the lake and the willow trees look quite different when you see them through the bars of a cage.”

7) So she brought him home once again gave him supper.

9) The princess was anxious.

17) “wake up, wake up, little bird, she said.

18) She began to cry and her tears fell onthe little bird.

27) “I will come because I love you, little princess,” said the bird.

28) “And I will sing you the loveliest songs I know.

29) I shall go far away, but I shall always come back, and I shall never forget you.”

30) Then he opened his wings and flew right away into the blue.
