MACBETH

(i)

1) When Duncan was the king of Scotland, there lived a brave General who was looked up to with high esteem throughout Scotland for his great valour and skill in wars.

= ডানকান যখন স্কটল্যান্ডের রাজা ছিলেন, তখন সেখানে একজন সাহসী সেনাপতি থাকতেন যাকে তার মহান বীরত্ব এবং যুদ্ধে দক্ষতার জন্য স্কটল্যান্ড জুড়ে উচ্চ সম্মানের সাথে দেখা হত।

2) He was also a close relative of the old king.

= তিনি বৃদ্ধ রাজার ঘনিষ্ঠ আত্মীয়ও ছিলেন।

3) He was Macbeth, the thane of Glamis.

= তিনি ছিলেন ম্যাকবেথ, গ্লেমিসের থেন বা শাসনকর্তা।

4) Of late, he defeated a rebel army assisted by the troops of Norway, in great numbers. 

= সম্প্রতি তিনি নরওয়ের সৈন্যদের দ্বারা সাহায্য করা একটি বিপুল সংখ্যক বিদ্রোহী বাহিনীকে পরাজিত করেছিলেন ।

5) The two Scottish Generals, Macbeth and Banquo, were returning from the great battle.

= দুই স্কটল্যান্ডীয় সেনাপতি ম্যাকবেথ এবং ব্যাঙ্কো এই মহান যুদ্ধ থেকে ফিরে আসছিলেন।

6) There was thunder and lightening.

= বিদ্যুত চমকাচ্ছিল  এবং বজ্রপাত হচ্ছিল ।

7) On the way they were stopped by the strange appearance of three figures that looked like women, except that they had beards, and their withered skin and wild dresses made them look like unearthly creatures.

= পথের মধ্যে তারা তিনটি মূর্তির অদ্ভুত চেহারা দেখে থামল যাদের দেখতে মহিলার মতো হলেও তাদের দাড়ি ছিল, এবং তাদের শুষ্ক চামড়া এবং বন্য পোশাকে তাদের অপার্থিব জীব বলে মনে হচ্ছিল ।

8) They were dancing, they were singing:

11) As they saw the two Generals, the first witch saluted Macbeth with the title of ‘thane of Glamis’.

12) The general was scarcely startled to find himself known by such creatures.

13) The second witch addressed him as the ‘thane of Cawdor’ to which he had no pretensions; and the third told him, “You will be the king of Scotland hereafter.

= দ্বিতীয় ডাইনি তাকে ‘কাউডরের থেন /ভূস্বামী’ বলে সম্বোধন করেছিল যে ব্যাপারে তার কোন ধারনা ছিল না; এবং তৃতীয় জন তাকে বলেছিল, “আপনিই হবেন স্কটল্যান্ডের রাজা।

14) ” Such a prophetic greeting might well amaze him for he knew that as long as the king’s sons survived, he could scarcely hope to succeed the throne.

15) By this time, Banquo was curious to know the reason why the witches had little to say about him whereas they kindled hope in the heart of his dearest friend.

= ইতিমধ্যে, ব্যাঙ্কো খুব কৌতূহলি হয়ে পড়েছিল কেন ওই ডাইনিরা তার সম্পর্কে তেমন কিছুই বলছে না অথচ তার প্রিয় বন্ধুর হৃদয়ে তারা আশা জাগিয়েছে ।

16) So the witches turned towards Banquo and told him in somewhat riddling terms: to be lesser than Macbeth and greater, not so happy but much happier.

= তাই ডাইনিরা ব্যাঙ্কোর দিকে ফিরেছিল এবং তাকে কিছুটা ধাঁধাঁপূর্ণ ভাষায় বলেছিল: ম্যাকবেথের চেয়ে কম /হীন  কিন্তু বড় / মহান হবে, অত সুখী নয় বরং অনেক বেশি সুখী।

17) They also prophesied that although Banquo would never reign as the king of Scotland, yet his successors would be the kings.

= তারা আরও ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেছিল যে যদিও ব্যাঙ্কো কখনও স্কটল্যান্ডের রাজা হিসাবে রাজত্ব করবে না, তবে তার উত্তরসূরিরা রাজা হবে।

18) And then they turned into thin air and vanished, by which the Generals realized the weird sisters to be witches.

19) While they stood there pondering on the strangeness of this adventure, there arrived certain envoys, from the king, who were empowered to confer upon Macbeth the title of the thane of Cawdor.

20) It was an event so miraculously corresponding with the predictions of the witches that Macbeth stood there wrapped in amazement, unable to respond to the greetings of the envoys.

= এই ঘটনা এমন অলৌকিকভাবে ডাইনিদের ভবিষ্যদ্বাণীর সাথে মিলে যায় যে ম্যাকবেথ সেখানে বিস্মিত হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন, এবং দূতদের অভিবাদনের জবাব দিতে অসমর্থ্ হলেন।

21) Hopes began to swell in his heart as he was now thinking of the prediction of the third witch.

=  তার মনে আশার সঞ্চার হল  কারন তিনি এখন তৃতীয় ডাইনির ভবিষ্যদ্বাণীর কথা ভাবছিলেন।

22) Turning to Banquo, he said, “Do you not hope that your children will be the kings of the future, since, what the witches promised to me has so wonderfully come to pass?”

= ব্যাঙ্কোর দিকে ফিরে তিনি বললেন, “আপনি কি আশা করেন না যে আপনার সন্তানেরা ভবিষ্যতের রাজা হবে, যেহেতু ডাইনিরা আমাকে যা প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিল তা বিস্ময়করভাবে ঘটেছে /মিলেগেছে ?”

23) “That hope,” replied Banquo, “might enkindle you to aim at the throne, but often times these ministers of darkness tell us truths in little things to betray us into deeds of greatest consequence.” 

= “সেই আশা,” ব্যাঙ্কো উত্তর দিল, “সিংহাসনের লক্ষ্যে আপনাকে উদ্বুদ্ধ করতে পারে, কিন্তু প্রায়শই অন্ধকার জগতের এই জীবেরা আমাদেরকে প্রতারিত করে ভযংকর কোন বিপর্যয়ের দিকে ঠেলে দিতে পারে ।।”

24) However, the prophesies of the witches had sunk too deep into the mind of Macbeth.

= যাইহোক, ডাইনিদের ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী ম্যাকবেথের মনে গভীর ভাবে রেখাপাত করেছিল।

25) He told his wife about the predictions of the three witches and also its partial accomplishment.

=  তিনি তার স্ত্রীকে তিনটি ডাইনির ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী এবং এর আংশিক সত্যতার সম্পর্কে বলেছিলেন।

26) Lady Macbeth was an extremely ambitious woman.

= লেডি ম্যাকবেথ একজন অত্যন্ত উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষী মহিলা ছিলেন।

27) She spurred on the reluctant purpose of Macbeth who felt compunction at the thought of blood.

= তিনি ম্যাকবেথের রক্তক্ষয়ের চিন্তায় মানসিকভাবে অনিচ্ছুক উদ্দেশ্যকে উত্সাহিত করেছিলেন ।

28) She did not cease to represent the murder of the king as a step absolutely necessary to the fulfillment of the flattering prophesies.

= তিনি ডাইনিদের প্রলুব্ধকর ভবিষ্যদ্বাণীগুলির পরিপূর্ণতার জন্য একেবারে প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ হিসাবে রাজার হত্যার পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার  ধারনা বোঝাতে বাদ রাখেননি ।

29) It happened that at this time King Duncan came to visit Macbeth’s castle along with his two sons, Malcolm and Donalbain and numerous thanes and attendants to honour Macbeth for his triumph against the rebels. 

= ঘটনাক্রমে এই সময়ে রাজা ডানকান তার দুই পুত্র ম্যালকম এবং ডোনালবেইন এবং অসংখ্য থেনদের এবং পরিচারকদের সাথে ম্যাকবেথের দুর্গ পরিদর্শনে আসেন, বিদ্রোহীদের বিরুদ্ধে ম্যাকবেথের বিজয়ের জন্য তাকে সম্মান জানাতে।

30) Inverness, the castle of Macbeth was pleasantly situated on a hill and the air about it was sweet and wholesome.

31) The nests that the swallows or the marlets had built under all the jutting friezes and buttresses of the building.

= এই প্রাসাদের প্রতিটি স্তম্ভ ও খিলানে মর্ট্-লেট বা সোয়ালো পাখি বাসা করেছিল ।

32) The king was extremely pleased as he entered the palace not only for its wonderful ambience but also due to the attention and respect of his hostess, Lady Macbeth, who had developed the art of camouflaging her treacherous purposes with smiles and charming etiquette. 

= রাজা প্রাসাদে প্রবেশ করে অত্যন্ত খুশি হয়েছিলেন কারণ শুধুমাত্র এর চমৎকার পরিবেশের জন্যই নয় বরং গৃহকর্তী লেডি ম্যাকবেথের মনোযোগ এবং শ্রদ্ধার কারণেও, যিনি তার হাসি এবং কমনীয় শিষ্টাচারের সাথে তার বিশ্বাসঘাতক উদ্দেশ্যগুলিকে ছদ্মবেশী করার সুন্দর কৌশল রপ্ত করেছিলেন।

33) Tired of his long journey the king went early to bed.

= দীর্ঘ যাত্রায় ক্লান্ত হয়ে রাজা তাড়াতাড়ি বিছানায় গেলেন।

34) It was the middle of the night.

= তখন মধ্যরাত।

35) Now over half the world’s nature seemed dead and wicked dreams abuse sleeping men’s minds, and none but the wolf or the murderer is out for hunt.

= এখন পৃথিবীর অর্ধেকেরও বেশি প্রকৃতি মৃত বলে মনে হচ্ছে এবং দুঃস্বপ্ন ঘুমন্ত মানুষের মনকে পিড়ীত করে এবং নেকড়ে বা হত্যাকারী ছাড়া আর কাউকে বাইরে দেখা য়ায় না।

36) This was the time when Lady Macbeth woke up to plot the murder of the king.

= এই সময় ছিল যখন লেডি ম্যাকবেথ রাজার হত্যার ষড়যন্ত্রের নিয়ে জেগে উঠেছিলেন।

37) She would not have undertaken a deed so abhorrent to her sex and she was well aware of her husband’s nature that was too full of the milk of human kindness to execute a contrived murder.

= তিনি তার নারীত্বের পরিপন্থী এত ঘৃণ্য কাজ করতেন না এবং তিনি তার স্বামীর স্বভাব সম্পর্কে ভালভাবে অবগত ছিলেন যার মন দয়া এবং সহানুভূতিতে এতটাই পূর্ন্ যে তিনি এই হত্যার পরিকল্পনার পথে অন্তরায় হতে পারেন ।

38) She knew that her husband was ambitious but he was not prepared for the height of crime which commonly accompanies inordinate ambition.

= তিনি জানতেন যে তার স্বামী উচ্চাভিলাষী কিন্তু এই উচ্চাকাঙ্খাকে সাফল্য মন্ডিত করার জন্য যে অপরাধ করার প্রয়োজন হয় তার জন্য তার স্বামী প্রস্তুত নন ।

39) She had won his consent about the murder but she doubted his resolution and she feared the natural tenderness of his disposition could defeat the purpose.

= তিনি হত্যার বিষয়ে তার সম্মতি পেয়েছিলেন কিন্তু তার সন্দেহ ছিল তার স্বামীর মানসিক দৃড়তা নিয়ে এবং তিনি ভয় পেয়েছিলেন তার স্বামীর স্বভাবসিদ্ধ কোমলতা হয়তো পুরো  উদ্দেশ্যকে ব্যর্থ করতে পারে।

40) So armed with a dagger she approached the king’s chamber.

= তাই তিনি হাতে একটি ছোরা নিয়ে রাজার কক্ষের কাছে গেলেন।

41) There she found Duncan in sound sleep and as she viewed him earnestly, there was something in his face which resembled her own father.

= সেখানে তিনি ডানকানকে গভীর ঘুমে আচ্ছন্ন দেখলেন এবং যখন তিনি তাকে সাগ্রহে দেখছিলেন, তার মুখে এমন কিছু ছিল যা তার নিজের বাবার মতো ছিল।

42) Thus she had not the resolution to proceed further. 

= এইভাবে তিনি তার সিদ্ধান্ত পরিত্যাগ করলেন।

43) She returned to confer with her husband.

= তিনি তার স্বামীর সাথে পরামর্শ্ করতে ফিরে আসেন।

44) He thought there were strong reasons against the  murder.

= তিনি চিন্তা করেন, তার এই হত্যা না করার পেছনে যথোপোযুক্ত কারণ রয়েছে।

45) Macbeth was not only a subject but also a close relative to Duncan.

= ম্যাকবেথ শুধুমাত্র একজন প্রজাই নয়, ডানকানের নিকটাত্মীয়ও ছিলেন।

46) Besides, he had been a host to the king; so his duty would be to protect the king from the threat of the murderers, not to bear the dagger himself.

= এছাড়া রাজা তার অতিথি ছিলেন; তাই তার দায়িত্ব হবে রাজাকে হত্যাকারীদের ভয় থেকে রক্ষা করা, নিজের হাতে ছোরা তুলে নেওয়া নয়।

47) He also thought how just and benevolent a king was Duncan, how clear of offence to his subjects, how loving to his nobility that their subjects were doubly bound to avenge his death.

= তিনি আরও ভেবেছিলেন যে একজন রাজা হিসাবে ডানকান কতটা ন্যায়পরায়ণ এবং দয়ালু ছিলেন, তার প্রজাদের প্রতি কতটা দুর্নীতিমুক্ত, তার সভাসদদের প্রতি তিনি কতটা স্নেহশীল যে তার প্রজারা তার মৃত্যুর প্রতিশোধ নিতে দ্বিগুণ উৎসাহে এগিয়ে আসবে।

48) Moreover, by the favours of the king, Macbeth stood high in the opinion of all sorts of men and how could those honours be stained by the reputation of so foul a murder! 

= তদুপরি, রাজার অনুগ্রহে, ম্যাকবেথ সমস্ত ধরণের মানুষের কাছে সন্মানের পাত্র হয়ে উঠেছিলেন এবং কীভাবে এত জঘন্য   হত্যাকাণ্ডের কলঙ্ক দিয়ে সেই সম্মান কলঙ্কিত করবেন!

(ix)

48) In these conflicts of the mind Lady Macbeth found that her husband had resolved to proceed no further.

= মনের এই দ্বন্দ্বের মধ্যে লেডি ম্যাকবেথ দেখতে পান যে তার স্বামী এ বিষয়ে আর না এগোনোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন।

49) But she was a woman not easily shaken from her evil purpose.

= কিন্তু তিনি এমন একজন মহিলা ছিলেন না যিনি এত সহজে তার এই দুষ্ট সংকল্প থেকে সরে আসবেন ।

50) She began to pour in at his ears words which infused a portion of her own spirit into his mind, assigning reason upon reason why he should not shrink from the resolution he had earlier undertaken and how the action of one night would give their all the coming days and nights to come sovereign power and royalty.

= তিনি তার কানে এমন কিছু নির্দয়তার অংশ ঢাললেন / প্রবেশ করালেন, যার কারণ হিসাবে উল্লেখ করে যে কেন তিনি আগে যে সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিলেন তা থেকে তিনি পিছপা হবেন না এবং কীভাবে এক রাতের পদক্ষেপ / অপরাধ তাদের আগামী দিন সমস্ত কিছু দেবে সার্বভৌম ক্ষমতা এবং রাজত্ব ।

51) She even accused him of cowardice and fickleness for reverting to his decision.

= এমনকি তিনি ম্যাকবেথকে তার সিদ্ধান্তে পিছপা যাওয়ার জন্য তাকে কাপুরুষতা এবং চঞ্চলতার অভিযোগ করলেন ।

52) She also told him how practicable it would be to lay the guilt of the deed on the drunken grooms who were sleeping in the king’s chamber. 

= তিনি তাকে আরও বলেছিলেন যে রাজার কক্ষে ঘুমানো মাতাল প্রহরীদের উপর কাজের দোষ চাপানো কতটা বাস্তবসম্মত।

53) So Macbeth took the dagger in his hand and softly stole in the dark to the room where Duncan slept.

= তাই ম্যাকবেথ ছোরাটা হাতে নিয়ে অন্ধকারে চুপিসারে সেই ঘরে চলে গেল যেখানে ডানকান ঘুমিয়েছিলেন।

54) As he advanced towards the bed-chamber he visualized another dagger hanging in the air with the handle pointed towards him and there were drops of blood on the tip and the blade of the dagger.

= শয়নকক্ষের দিকে অগ্রসর হওয়ার সাথে সাথে তিনি দেখতে পেলেন বাতাসে দুলতে থাকা আরেকটি ছোরা যার হাতলটি তার দিকে ইঙ্গিত করা, এবং ডগায় রক্তের ফোঁটা ।

55) Macbeth tried to grasp the dagger but it faded in to the air.

= ম্যাকবেথ ছোরাটি ধরতে চেষ্টা করেছিল কিন্তু এটি বাতাসে মিলিয়ে গেল ।

56) It was only a phantasm created from his hot and oppressed brain for the business he had in hand. 

= এটি ছিল তার উষ্ণ ও অশান্ত  মস্তিষ্ক থেকে জন্মানো একটি কল্পনার প্রতিমূর্তি মাত্র।

57) Overcoming this fear, Macbeth entered Duncan’s room and slew the hapless king with one stroke of the dagger.

= এই ভয় কাটিয়ে ম্যাকবেথ ডানকানের ঘরে প্রবেশ করেন এবং ছুরির এক আঘাতে অসহায় রাজাকে হত্যা করেন।

58) Just as he was about to leave the room, one of the grooms who were sleeping in the chamber, laughed and the cried out, “murder” for which both of them woke up; but then, one of them said, “God bless us” and the other responded, “Amen” and went off to sleep.

= তিনি যখন ঘর থেকে বের হতে চলেছেন, তখন কক্ষে ঘুমিয়ে থাকা প্রহরীদের একজন হেসে উঠল এবং চিৎকার করে বলল, “খুন”  এরপর তারা দুজনই জেগেছে; কিন্তু তারপর, তাদের মধ্যে একজন বলল, “ঈশ্বর আমাদের মঙ্গল করুন” এবং অন্যজন উত্তর দিল, “আমেন” এবং তারপর ঘুমিয়ে পড়ল।

59) Macbeth also tried to say “Amen” but the word seemed to be struck in his throat and he could not utter.

= ম্যাকবেথও “আমেন” বলার চেষ্টা করেছিলেন কিন্তু শব্দটি তার গলায় যেন আটকে গেল এবং তিনি তা উচ্চারণ করতে পারলেন না ।

60) He felt that he heard a voice which said, “Sleep no more; Macbeth murders sleep, the innocent sleep that nourishes life.

= তিনি অনুভব করেছিলেন যে তিনি একটি কণ্ঠস্বর শুনতে পেয়েছেন যা বলছে, “আর ঘুমিও না; ম্যাকবেথ ঘুমকে হত্যা করেছে, সেই ঘুম যা জীবনকে নতুন উদ্দীপনা প্রদান করে ।।

61) Glamis has murdered sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall therefore sleep no more.

=  গ্লেমিস ঘুমকে হত্যা করেছে, এবং তাই কডর আর কখনও ঘুমাবে না।

62) Macbeth shall sleep no more.” 

= ম্যাকবেথ আর ঘুমাবে না।”

(xii)

63) Macbeth thus returned to his wife who by now had started to think that he had failed in his objective.

= এইভাবে ম্যাকবেথ তার স্ত্রীর কাছে ফিরে আসেন যিনি এতক্ষণে ভাবতে শুরু করেছিলেন যে তিনি তার লক্ষ্যে ব্যর্থ হয়েছেন।

64) He came in such distracted state that she reproached for his want of resoluteness and sent him to wash his hands of the blood that stained them.

= ম্যাকবেথ এমন বিভ্রান্ত অবস্থায় এসেছিলেন যে তিনি তার দৃঢ়তার অভাবের জন্য তিরস্কার করেছিলেন এবং তাকে তার হাত থেকে রক্তের দাগ ধোয়ার জন্য পাঠিয়েছিলেন।

65) Meanwhile she took the dagger to stain the cheeks of the grooms with blood in order to make it seem their guilt. 

= ইতিমধ্যে তিনি প্রহরীদের গাল রক্তে দাগ মাখিয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য ছোরা নিয়েছিল যাতে তাদের অপরাধী বলে মনে হয়।

66) Day broke and with it was the discovery of the murder and though Macbeth and his wife showed their outmost grief and the evidence of murder were sufficiently strong against the grooms, yet the entire suspicion fell upon Macbeth.

71) Macbeth and his queen could not forget prophesy of the weird sisters that though Macbeth would be the king but the children of Banquo and not of Macbeth would be the kings after him.

= ম্যাকবেথ এবং তার রানী অদ্ভুত বোনদের ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী ভুলতে পারলেন না,  যে ম্যাকবেথ রাজা হবেন তবে  তার সন্তানেরা নয়  ব্যাঙ্কোর সন্তানেরা তার পরে রাজা হবে।

72) The thought, that they had defiled their hands with blood by committing regicide, only to place the posterity of Banquo upon the throne had rankled within them.

79) No sooner did he lament for his friend whom he was missing in the banquet, Macbeth saw the ghost of Banquo occupying the seat reserved for him.

= লেডি ম্যাকবেথ ভয়ঙ্কর গোপন রহস্য উন্মোচন হয়ে য়াওয়ার ভয়ে, ম্যাকবেথের দুর্বলতার অজুহাত দেখিয়ে অতি তাড়াহুড়ো করে অতিথিদের বিদায় করে দিলেন ।

84) Macbeth and his wife had their sleeps affected with terrible dreams and the blood of Banquo troubled them not more than the escape of Fleance whom they now looked upon as father to a line of kings who would keep their posterity out of the throne.

= ম্যাকবেথ এবং তার স্ত্রী ভয়ংকর দুঃস্বপ্নে রাত্রি যাপন করতে লাগলেন,  এবং ব্যাঙ্কোর হত্যা যেন তাঁদের মানসিকভাবে জর্জরিত  করতে লাগল, ঠিক তেমনই তাদের কষ্ট দিতে লাগল ফ্লিয়েন্সের পালিয়ে যাওয়ার ঘটনা যাকে তাঁরা ইতিমধ্যেই একটি রাজবংশের আদিপুরুষ হিসেবে ভাবতে শুরু করেছেন এবং তারা এও আশঙ্কা করলেন এই ফ্লিয়েন্স ববিষ্যতে তাদের সন্তানকে সমস্ত ক্ষমতা থেকে বঞ্চিত করবে ।

85) With these thoughts they found no peace and Macbeth decided to visit the heath once more in search of the three weird sisters to know his final outcome.

86) He found them in a cave near the heath where they were engaged in preparing their charms in which they conjured up infernal spirits to reveal them futurity.

87) Their horrid ingredients were toads, bats and serpents, the eye of a newt, the tongue of a dog, the leg of lizard, the wing of a night-owl, the scale of a dragon, the tooth of a wolf, the mummy of a witch, the root of hemlock, the gall of a goat, the liver of a Jew and the finger of a dead child.

101)  “Then live Macduff,” remarked the king, “what need do I fear of you, Macduff?

102) But I will make assurance doubly sure.

105) He also called Macbeth by name, comforted him against conspiracies and told him that he could never be vanquished until the woods of Birnam to Dunsinane Hill would come against him.

109) Here the cauldron sank into the ground and a noise of music was heard, and eight shadows like kings passed by Macbeth, and Banquo was the last figure, all smeared with blood, and smiled at Macbeth.

123) The first news that Macbeth got soon after coming out of the witches cave was that Macduff, the thane of Fife, had fled to England to join the army which was formed against him under the leadership of Malcolm to displace Macbeth and set Malcolm, the right heir, upon the throne of Scotland.

= ম্যাকবেথ ডাইনি গুহা থেকে বেরিয়ে আসার পরপরই প্রথম যে খবরটি পেয়েছিলেন তা হল যে ম্যাকডাফ, ফিফের থেন, ইংল্যান্ডে পালিয়ে গেছে সেই সৈন্য দলে যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য যেটি ম্যাকবেথকে সিংহাসনচ্যুত করতে ম্যালকমের নেতৃত্বে তার বিরুদ্ধে গঠিত হয়েছে, যে ম্যলকম যিনি স্কটল্যান্ডের সিংহাসনের সঠিক উত্তরাধিকারী, ।

124) Stung with rage, Macbeth set upon the castle of Macduff.

= ক্রোধে দিকবিদিক জ্ঞানশূন্য হয়ে , ম্যাকবেথ ম্যাকডাফের দুর্গের উপর আক্রমন করলেন।

125) Macduff’s wife and children, whom the thane had left behind in Scotland, were brutally slaughtered.

= ম্যাকডাফের স্ত্রী ও সন্তানদের, যাদেরকে থেন স্কটল্যান্ডে রেখে গিয়েছিল, তাদের নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করা হয়েছিল।

126) These merciless activities had gradually alienated the nobility from Macbeth.

= এই নির্দয় কার্যকলাপগুলি ধীরে ধীরে ম্যাকবেথ কে দেশের ক্ষমতাশালী অভিজাতবর্গের থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে আনতে লাগল ।

127) Many fled to join Malcolm and Macduff who were now approaching with a powerful army which had been raised in England, and the rest secretly wished success to their arms though for fear of Macbeth they could not take active part.

= অনেকেই ম্যালকম এবং ম্যাকডাফের সাথে যোগ দিতে পালিয়ে যায় যারা এখন ইংল্যান্ডে গড়ে ওঠা একটি শক্তিশালী সেনাবাহিনীর সাথে যোগাযোগ করেছিল এবং বাকিরা গোপনে তাদের অস্ত্রের সাফল্য কামনা করেছিল যদিও ম্যাকবেথের ভয়ে তারা সক্রিয় অংশ নিতে পারেনি।

128)  Everybody hated Macbeth, the tyrant.

129)  Nobody honoured him but all suspected him and he began to envy the condition of Duncan who now slept soundly in his grave and against whom treason had done its worst.

137) So he shut himself up in his own castle which was thought to be absolutely impregnable and waited for Malcolm to invade it.

140) By now Macbeth had begun to doubt the equivocal sayings of the three spirits.

150) A fierce skirmish took place in which Macbeth slaughtered all those who challenged him until he faced Macduff and remembering the caution of the spirit who had counseled him to stay away from the thane of Fife, he would have turned back but Macduff who had been seeking him through the whole fight, opposed his turning, and a fierce contest ensued.

151)  Macduff reproached him and called him a tyrant, murderer, hell- hound and a villain for brutally slaughtering his wife and his innocent children.

= ম্যাকডাফ তাকে তার স্ত্রী এবং তার নিষ্পাপ সন্তানদের নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করার জন্য একজন অত্যাচারী, খুনি, নরকের কুকুর বলে তিরস্কার করেছিলেন ।

152) Then Macbeth remembered the words of the spirit and boldly proclaimed, “I bear a charmed life which must not yield to a man born naturally of a woman.”

153) At this Macduff snubbed him and declared that never born of a woman, never as the ordinary man is naturally born, but was untimely taken out from his mother’s womb.

156) He then refused to fight against Macduff.
