Twelfth Night Bengali Meaning

(i)

1) Sebastian and Viola were identical twins.

= সেবাস্টিয়ান ও ভায়োলা একই রকম দেখতে জমজ ভাইবোন ।

2) They were born in the same hour.

= তারা একই সময়ে জন্মেছিল ।

3) Sebastian was a young man of Elysium and his twin sister was the lady of Messalina.

= সেবাস্টিয়ান হলো ইলিশিয়াম এর যুবক আর তার জমজ বোন মেসালিনা সম্ভ্রান্ত যুবতী ।

4)  They were on a voyage together when a shipwreck  occurred at the coast of Illyria.

= তারা একবার একসঙ্গে সমুদ্রযাত্রা  করেছিল যখন ইলিরিয়ার উপকূলেরকাছে তাদের জাহাজডুবিহয়

5) Their ship was split on a rock in a violent tempest and both were on the verge of death.

= ভয়ঙ্কর সামুদ্রিক ঝড়ের মধ্যে তাদের জাহাজ একটি ডুবো পাহাড়ে ধাক্কা খেয়ে ভেঙেযায় তারা দুজনেই তখন মৃত্যুর মুখে পড়ে ।

6)  The Captain of the ship, along with a few sailors, somehow got to the land in a small boat.

= জাহাজের ক্যাপ্টেন কয়েকজন নাবিককে সঙ্গে নিয়ে কোনক্রমে একটি নৌকায় করে ডাঙ্গায় পৌঁছান ।

7) They rescued Viola and brought her to the shore.

= তারা ভায়োলাকে উদ্ধার করে নিয়ে তীরে আসে ।

8)  The poor lady, instead of being happy for her own safety, mourned  for the death of her brother, Sebastian.

= বেচারী ভায়োলা নিজের প্রাণ বাঁচায় আনন্দের পরিবর্তে তার ভাইয়ের মৃত্যুর শোকে কাঁদতে থাকে ।

9) But the Captain comforted her with the assurance that he had seen him during the tempest.

= কিন্তু ক্যাপ্টেন তাকে সান্ত্বনা দিয়ে বলেন ঝড়ের মধ্যে তার ভাইকে দেখেছে । 

10) When the ship split, Sebastian had fastened  himself to a strong mast and managed to remain above the waves.

= জাহাজ যখন ভেঙে যায় তখন সেবাস্টিয়ান একটি নিজেকে একটি মাস্তুল এর সঙ্গে বেঁধে ঢেউয়ের উপরে ভাসছিল । 

11) Viola was much consoled and gathered hope from this account.

= এতে ভায়োলা বেশ সান্তনা ও ভরসা পায় ।  

12) She now thought how she would settle down in a foreign country, far away from home.

= এখন ভাবতে লাগে কি করে সে তার নিজের দেশ থেকে বহুদূরে একাকী ভিনদেশে বাস করবে ।

13) So, she asked the Captain if he knew anything of Illyria.

= তাই সে ক্যাপ্টেন কে জিজ্ঞাসা করল ইলিরিয়া সম্পর্কে তিনি কিছু জানেন কিনা ।

14)  “Yes, very well,” said the Captain, “for I was bred and born not three hours travel from this place.”

= ক্যাপ্টেন বললেন, “বেশ ভালোই জানি । আমি সেখানে জন্মেছি বড় হয়েছি । এখান থেকে তিন ঘন্টার পথ নয়” ।

15) He also told her that Illyria was governed by Duke Orsino who was indeed a noble man. 

= তিনি আরও জানালেন যে ইলিরিয়ার শাসক ডিউক অরসিনো যিনি প্রকৃতই একজন মহৎ মানুষ ।

16) Viola was surprised.

= ভায়োলা অবাক হলো

17) She said, “Orsino! I have heard my father name him.

= সে বলল, “আমার বাবাকে তার নাম বলতে শুনেছি” ।

18)  He was a bachelor  then.”

= তিনি তখন অবিবাহিত ছিলেন ।

19) The Captain told her that the Duke remained a bachelor and was seeking the love of the beautiful Olivia, the daughter of a Count who died a year ago.

= ক্যাপ্টেন বললেন,  “ডিউক এখনো অবিবাহিত । তিনি সুন্দরী অলিভিয়ার প্রেমপ্রার্থী , অলিভিয়া এক কাউন্টের মেয়ে, যে কাউন্ট এক বছর আগে মারা গেছেন ।

20) The virtuous  lady was left behind to the protection of her brother, who also died shortly after, and for the love of her dear brother she had abjured  the sight and company of men.

= তখন এই গুণবতী মহিলা তার দাদার সুরক্ষায় ছিল কিন্তু অল্প কিছুদিন পর দাদা মারা যান, প্রিয় দাদার মৃত্যুর পর শোকে সে কোন পর পুরুষের মুখ দর্শন করবে না বলে শপথ নিয়েছে ।

21)  Viola who was herself in such emotional condition, for the probable  loss of her brother, desired to live with this lady.

= ভায়োলা ও তার আপন ভাইকে হারানোর আশঙ্কায় এত আবেগ বিহ্বলহল যে তার ইচ্ছে করছিল এই মহিলার সঙ্গে জীবন কাটায় । 

22) She asked the Captain if he could introduce her to Olivia as she would willingly  serve this lady.

= সে ক্যাপ্টেন কে জিজ্ঞাসা করলে তিনি অলিভিয়ার সঙ্গে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিতে পারেন কিনা তাহলে সে স্বেচ্ছায় ওই মহিলার সেবা করবে । 

23) But he confessed that it would be a hard thing to accomplish because Lady Olivia would not allow any person to enter her house since her brother’s death, not even the Duke himself.

= কিন্তু ক্যাপ্টেন স্বীকার করলেন₂₄ তেমনটি করা₂₅ শক্ত কারণ ওই মহিলা তার ভাইয়ের মৃত্যুর পর থেকে কাউকে বাড়িতে ঢুকতে দেয় না এমনকি ডিউক কেও না ।

24) Then, Viola thought of another plan which was in a man’s camouflage and that was to serve the Duke as a page.   

= তখন ভায়োলা আরেকটি মতলব করল, সে পুরুষের ছদ্মবেশে ডিউকের বালক ভৃত্যের কাজ করবে ।

25) It was indeed a strange fancy in a young lady to dress herself as a young man and serve the duke, since Viola was young and of uncommon beauty, alone in a foreign land.

= একজন যুবতীর পক্ষে পুরুষের ছদ্মবেশে ভৃত্যের কাজ করার মধ্যে সত্যিই ভারী অদ্ভুত কল্পনা, কারণ ভয়াওলা যুবতী এবং অসাধারণ সুন্দরী , এই ভিনদেশে একেবারে একা ।

(ii)

26) Viola observed a fair behaviour from the Captain who showed friendly concern for her welfare and readily engaged to assist her.

= ভালো লক্ষ্য করলো তার প্রতি ক্যাপ্টেনের সুন্দর আচরণ, তিনি তার মঙ্গলের জন্য বন্ধুর মতো উদগ্রীব এবং সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাকে সাহায্য করতে প্রস্তুত ।

27) She gave him money and instructed him to provide her suitable dress of the same colour and of the same fashion her brother Sebastian used to wear.

= ক্যাপ্টেনকে কিছু টাকা দিয়ে তার ভাই সেবাস্টিয়ান যে ধরনের রংয়ের পোশাক পড়তো সে রকম পোশাক আনতে বললো ।

28) When she dressed herself in the new clothes, she looked so exactly like her brother that some strange errors happened by means of their mistaken for each other, for Sebastian was also saved.

= নতুন পোশাক পরে তাকে অবিকল তার ভাইয়ের মতো দেখাচ্ছিল , ওদিকে সেবাস্তিয়ান বেঁচে যাওয়ার ফলে দু’জনের পরিচয় গুলিয়ে ফেলার কারণে নানান অদ্ভুত ঘটনা ঘটেছিল ।

29) Viola’s good friend had some interest in court and presented Viola in the disguise of a boy in the name of Cesario.

= ভাযোলার সহৃদয় বন্ধুর রাজসভায় কিছু পরিচয় ছিল তিনি বালক ছদ্মবেশি ভায়োলাকে সিজারিও নামে ডিউকের কাছে হাজির করলেন ।  

30) The duke was pleased with the gracefull appearance of this handsome youth and made Cesario one of his pages, the profession that Viola desired to be employed.

= এই সুদর্শন যুবকের সুন্দর চেহারা দেখে খুশি হয়ে ডিউক তাকে তার অনুচর হিসাবে নিয়োগ করলেন ,সেটাই ভায়োলা  চেয়েছিল ।

31) She showed such ready observance and faithful attachment to her lord that she soon became his most favoured attendant.

= সে দেখাল  সদা সতর্কতা ও বিশ্বস্ত কাজকর্ম্ তার প্রভুর প্রতি যা শীঘ্রই তাকে তার প্রভুর সবচেয়ে প্রিয় অনুচর করে তুলল । 

32) The duke even confided to Cesario the story of his love for Olivia, his long and unsuccessful attempts of courtship and that she even refused to allow the lord to her presence.

= ডিউক সিজারিওকে বিশ্বাস করে তার কাছে অলিভিয়ার প্রতি তার ভালোবাসার কাহিনী ব্যক্ত করলেন , অলিভিয়ার জন্য তার দীর্ঘ অসফল প্রয়াসের কথাও তাকে জানালেন, এমনকি অলিভিয়া যে তাকে দেখা করতে দেয় না তাও জানালেন ।

33) The noble lady treated him with such unkindness that he passed his days in ignoble sloth, listening to the effeminate sounds of soft music, gentle airs and passionate love songs, and neglected the company of the wise and learned lords which he used to associate.

= ওই সম্ভ্রান্ত মহিলা তার সঙ্গে এমন নির্দয় ব্যবহার করেন যে তার দিন কাটে অর্থ্ হীন আলস্যে, পৌরুষহীন কোমল সংগীত, মৃদু বাতাস আর আবেগময় প্রেমের গান শুনে,  আগে যেসব জ্ঞানী-গুণীদের তিনি সঙ্গ দিতেন এখন তাদের এড়িয়ে চলেন ।    

34)  All day long the duke talked with Cesario and his grave courtiers thought her to be the unmet companion of their noble master.

= সারা দিনই তিনি যার সঙ্গে কথাবার্তা বলেন আর সভাসদরা থাকে তাদের মনিবের প্রেম সঙ্গী বলে মনে করেন ।  

(iv)

35) It was quite dangerous for young maidens to be confidant of a handsome duke which Viola very soon discovered to her sorrow.

= একজন যুবতী নারীর পক্ষে এক সুপুরুষ ডিউকের বিশ্বস্ত বন্ধুর ভূমিকা পালন করা ছিল খুবই বিপদজনক তা অতি অল্প দিনে দুঃখের সঙ্গে আবিষ্কার করল ।

36) All that Orsino told her about his sufferance for love for Olivia, Viola soon realized that suffered the same for her love of him.

= অলিভিয়া কে ভালোবেসে অর্সিনো যে দুঃখ জ্বালা ভোগ করেন সেই একই দুঃখ যন্ত্রণা যে ভায়োলা ডিউককে ভালোবাসার কারণে পায় তা সে শীঘ্রই বুঝতে পারল ।

37) She wondered how Olivia could be so regardless of this for her peerless lord Orsino whom, she thought, no one could behold him without the deepest admiration.

= সকলে যখন তার অসামান্য মনিবের প্রতি গভীরভাবে শ্রদ্ধাশীল তখন অলিভিয়া যে কি করে তার প্রতি এত শ্রদ্ধাহীন হতে পারে তা ভেবে পায়না ।  

38) She even remarked that it was a pity the duke was in love of a lady who was blind to his worthy qualities.

= সে এমনকি মন্তব্য করেছে সে এটি অত্যন্ত দুঃখের যে ডিউক এমন একজন নারীকে ভালবাসেন যে তার ভালো গুণগুলো প্রতি অন্ধ ।

39) She told him, “If a lady were to love you, my lord, as you love Olivia, if you could not love her in return, would you not tell her that you could not love, and must she not be content with this answer?”

= সে বলেছে, “প্রভু কোন নারী যদি আপনাকে ততটাই ভালবাসে যতটা আপনি অলিভিয়া কে ভালোবাসেন আর প্রতিদানে আপনি যদি তাকে ভালোবাসতে না পারতেন আপনি কি তাকে বলতেন না যে আপনি তাকে ভালোবাসতে পারবেন না আর সেই নারী কি আপনার এই উত্তরের সন্তুষ্ট থাকত না ?”

40) But Orsino could not accept this reasoning.

 = কিন্তু অরসিনো এই যুক্তি মানতে চাইলেন না ।

41) He said that no woman’s heart was big enough to hold so much love, and therefore it was unfair to compare the love of any lady for him to his love for Olivia.

= তিনি বলেছিলেন যে কোনও মহিলার হৃদয় এতটা ভালবাসার জন্য যথেষ্ট বড় ছিল না, এবং তাই অলিভিয়ার প্রতি তার ভালবাসার সাথে অন্য  কোনও মহিলার ভালবাসার তুলনা করা অন্যায় ছিল।

42) Viola did not agree with this.

= ভায়োলা একথায় সম্মত হল না ।

43) She felt that her heart had as much love in it for Orsino as the duke had for Olivia.

= সে অনুভব করেছিল যে অলিভিয়ার জন্য ডিউকের হৃদয়ে যেমন ভালোবাসা আছে, ঠিক তেমনই ওরসিনোর জন্য তার হৃদয়ে ততটা ভালবাসা রয়েছে।

44) She knew very well how much women love men.

= সে খুব ভালো করেই জানত নারীরা পুরুষদের কতটা ভালোবাসতে পারে ।

45) “They are as true of heart as we are,” said Viola.

= “তাদের মনটাও আমাদের মতো খাঁটি,” ভায়োলা বলেছিল।

46) My father had a daughter, loved a man, as I perhaps, were I a woman, should love your lordship.

= আমার বাবার একটি কন্যা ছিল, সেও একজন পুরুষকে ভালবাসত, ঠিক ততটাই যটি আমি একজন মহিলা হতাম , তাহলে আপনাকে যতটা ভালোবাসতাম ।

47) ”When the duke was curious to know whether the lady died of love, Viola gave an evasive answer.

=  যখন ডিউক কৌতূহলী হয়ে জানতে  চাইলেন , সেই ভদ্রমহিলা প্রেমের কারণে মারা গেছে কিনা তা, ভায়োলা সেটিকে এড়িয়ে যাবার জন্য অস্পষ্ট  উত্তর দিয়েছিল।

(v)

48) While they were talking, a gentleman entered.

= যখণ তারা কথা বলছিল, তখন এক ভদ্রলোক ঢুকলেন।

49) The duke had sent him to Olivia.

= ডিউক তাকে অলিভিয়ার কাছে পাঠিয়েছিল।

50) He told the duke that he was not allowed to meet the gracious lady.

= তিনি ডিউককে বলেছিলেন যে তাকে সেই মহিয়সী মহিলার সাথে দেখা করতে দেওয়ার সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়নি।

51) But by her maid she sent the message for the duke that seven years from hence, even the element of Love would not be allowed to see her face, while she would walk around the mansion with her face veiled like a cloister living nun and water the rooms of her house with her tears in remembrance of her dead brother.

= কিন্তু তার দাসীর মাধ্যমে সে ডিউকের জন্য বার্তা পাঠিয়েছেন যে এমনকি এখন থেকে সাত বছর পর্যন্ত কোনো ভালোবাসার বস্তুর মুখদর্শন তিনি করবেন না,  নিভৃত আশ্রমবাসী সন্ন্যাসিনীর মতো সে প্রাসাদের বিভিন্ন কক্ষে ঘুরে বেড়াবে এবং তার ভাইয়ের স্মৃতিতে চোখের জলে সিক্ত করবে তার মৃত ভাইয়ের স্মরণে তার বাড়ির ঘর তার চোখের জলে।

52)  At this the duke told Viola, “You know Cesario, I have told you all the secrets of my heart; therefore good youth, go to Olivia’s house.

= একথা শুনে ডিউক ভায়োলাকে বললেন, “তুমি সবকিছু জানো সিজারিও, আমি তোমাকে আমার হৃদয়ের সব গোপন কথা বলেছি; তাই হে যুবক, তুমি অলিভিয়ার বাড়িতে যাও।

53) Be not denied access; stand at her doors and tell her.”

= দরজায় দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে বা অন্য যেকোনো ভাবেই হোক আমার মনের কথা তাকে জানিয়ে এসো” ।

54) Olivia replied, “And if do speak to her, my lord, what then?”

= অলিভিয়া উত্তর দিল, “এবং  আমি যদি তার সাথে কথাও বলি, আমার প্রভু, তাহলেও কি হবে?”

55) “Oh, then”, Orsino said, “Unfold to her the passion of my love.”

= “ওহ, তাহলে”, ওরসিনো বললো, “তার কাছে আমার ভালোবাসার আবেগ প্রকাশ করো।”

56) So Viola went away.

= তাই ভায়োলা চলে গেল ।

57) However, she did not undertake courtship willingly, for she was to woo a lady to become a wife of the person whom she herself loved and desired to marry.

= যাইহোক, সে মন থেকে কাজটি নিতে পারল না, কারণ সে একজন মহিলাকে সেই ব্যক্তির স্ত্রী হওয়ার জন্য নিবেদন করতে যাবে যাকে তিনি সে ভালোবাসত এবং বিয়ে করতে চেয়েছিল।

58) But having undertaken the affair, she performed with fidelity.

= কিন্তু ব্যাপারটি গ্রহণ করার পরে, সে বিশ্বস্ততার সাথে পালন করল ।

59) Olivia heard that a youth was at her door who insisted upon being admitted to her presence.

= অলিভিয়া শুনল যে একজন যুবক তার দরজায় অপেক্ষা করছে এবং তার সঙ্গে দেখা করার জন্য পীড়াপীড়ী করছে ।

60) The servant told Cesario that the lady was sick, but the latter persisted on meeting her.

=  ভৃত্য সিজারিওকে বলেছিল যে ভদ্রমহিলা অসুস্থ, কিন্তু সিজারিও তার সাথে দেখা করার জেদে অটল ছিল।

61) Curious to see who this peremptory messenger might be, Olivia wished that he might be admitted.

= এই নাছোরবান্দা বার্তাবাহক কে হতে পারে তা দেখার জন্য কৌতূহলী হয়ে অলিভিয়া তাকে প্রবেশকরার অনুমতি দিলেন ।

62)  Throwing the veil over her face, she declared she would once more listen to the duke’s message, as she had no doubt that he came from Orsino.

= তার মুখের উপর ঘোমটা আবৃতকরে , তিনি ঘোষণা করেছিলেন যে তিনি আরও একবার ডিউকের বার্তা শুনবেন, কারণ তার কোন সন্দেহ ছিল না যে সে (বার্তা-বাহক) ওরসিনোর থেকে এসেছে।

63) Viola put on the manliest air that she could assume and courteously addressed the virtuous lady.

= ভায়োলা যথাসম্ভব পুরষালী ভাব দেখিয়ে  বিনয়ের সাথে এই গুণী মহিলাকে সম্বোধন করেছিলেন।

64) Olivia asked her, “Are you a comedian?”

= অলিভিয়া তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আপনি কি একজন কৌতুক-অভিনেতা?”

65) “No”, replied Viola, “and I am not that which I play”.

= “না”, ভায়োলা উত্তর দিল, “এবং আমাকে যা মনে হচ্ছে আমি তা নই”।

66) She meant to say that she as a woman but she feigned herself to man.

= সে বলতে চেয়েছিল যে সে একজন মহিলা কিন্তু সে পুরুষের ছদ্মবেশ ধরে রয়েছে ।

67) Viola again asked her, “Are you the lady of the house?”

= ভায়োলা আবার তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করল, “আপনি কি এই বাড়ির কর্ত্রী?”

68) As Olivia confirmed it, Viola having utmost curiosity to see her rival’s beauty told her, “Good madam, let me see your face.”

= অলিভিয়া যখন এটি নিশ্চিত করলেন, ভায়োলা তখন তার প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীর সৌন্দর্য দেখার জন্য অত্যন্ত কৌতূহল নিয়ে তাকে বলেছিল, “মহাশয়া, আমাকে আপনার মুখদর্শনের সুযোগ দেবেন?”

69) This bold request surprised Olivia but she complied with it and unveiled her face by saying:

= এই সাহসী অনুরোধটি অলিভিয়াকে অবাক করেছিল কিন্তু সে তার অনুরোধ রাখল এবং  তার মুখের আবরন সরিয়েছিল:

70) “Look you, sir, such a one I was, this present.

= “দেখুন, মহাশয়, এই হলাম আমি, এখন যেমন দেখছেন আমাকে” ।

71) Is it not well done?” Viola replied, “Excellently done, if God did all.”

=  ভায়োলা উত্তর দিল, “যদি এইসব ঈশ্বরের সৃষ্টি হয়, তাহলে বলব এ তার বড়োই চমৎকার সৃষ্টি।”

(vii)

72) She also told Olivia that her lord, the duke, loved the virtuous lady and such a love could scarcely be recompensed.

=  তিনি অলিভিয়াকে আরও বলেছিলেন যে তার প্রভু, ডিউক, তার মতো গুণী ভদ্রমহিলাকে ভালোবাসেন এবং এই ধরনের ভালবাসার প্রতিদান খুব কমই পাওয়া যেতে পারে।

73) Orsino used to love her with adoration and with tears and sighs of fire.

= অরসিনো তাকে মন প্রাণ দিয়ে ভালবাসেন এবং তার প্রতিটি চোখের জলে এবং দীর্ঘশ্বাসে রয়েছে অলিভিয়ার প্রতি তার ভালোবাসা।

74) Olivia replied, ‘Your lord knows well my mind.

= অলিভিয়া উত্তর দিল, ‘তোমার প্রভু আমার মনের কথা ভালো জানেন।

75) I cannot love him; yet I doubt not, he is virtuous; I know him to be noble and of high estate, of fresh and spotless youth.

= আমি তাকে ভালবাসতে পারব না, যদিও আমার এ নিয়ে কোন সংশয় নেই যে তিনি অত্যন্ত গুণী মানুষ তার চরিত্র নির্মল এবং নিষ্কলঙ্ক ।

76) All voices proclaim him learned, courteous and valiant, yet I cannot love him; he might have taken his answer long ago.

= সকলেই তাকে জানে, ভদ্র এবং সাহসী বলে স্বীকার করে , তবুও আমার পক্ষে তাকে ভালোবাসা সম্ভব নয়; তিনি আমার এই উত্তর অনেক আগেই গ্রহণ করতে পারতেন  ।

77) ”Viola courteously said, “If l did love you as my master does, I would make a willow cabin at your gates, and call upon your name.

= ভায়োলা তখন বিনয়ের সাথে বলল, “আমি যদি আমার প্রভুর মত আপনাকে ভালবাসতাম, তাহলে আপনার প্রাসাদের তারে আমি একটি পর্ণ কুটির রচনা করতাম এবং চিৎকার করে আপনার নাম ধরে ডাকতাম” ।

78)  I would write complaining sonnets on Olivia and sing them in the dead of night.

= তখন ভায়োলা বলল, “আপনি করতে পারেন” ।

83) At this Viola remarked, “Above my fortunes, yet my state is well, I am a gentleman.

84) ”Now Olivia reluctantly dismissed appeal of Viola and said,“Go to your master, and tell him, I cannot love him.

= এবার অলিভিয়া ভায়োলার আবেদন খারিজ করে দিল আর বলল আপনার প্রভুর কাছে যান এবং তাকে জানান আমি তাকে ভালবাসতে পারব না ।  

85) Let him send no more, unless by chance you come again to tell me how he takes it.”

= উনি যেন আর কখনো কোন দুধ না পাঠান , তবে ডিউ এটাকে কিভাবে নিচ্ছেন সেটা জানাতে আপনি এখানে আসতে পারেন

86) So Viola departed from Olivia’s house but the virtuous lady recalled the parting words of the page.

= তই ভায়োলা অলিভিয়ার বাড়ি থেকে চলে এলো কিন্তু যুবক অনুচর অর্থাৎ সিজারিওর শেষ কথাগুলি অলিভিয়ার মনে বাজতে লাগলো।

87)  She wished Cesario to be the duke.

= তার মনে হলো সিজারিও যদি ডিউক হতো তাহলে ভালো হতো ।

88) Gradually she began to forget the inequality between her fortunes and that of the page and also of the maidenly reserve which is the chiefornament of a lady’s character.

= আস্তে আস্তে তার এই অনুচরের সামাজিক ব্যবধানের কথা সে ভুলে গেল এবং নারীসুলভ গাম্ভীর্য যাকে নারীর চরিত্রের সবচেয়ে বড় অলংকার বলে মনে করা হয় তাও সে যেন হারিয়ে ফেলতে লাগলো ।

89) She thus resolved to court the love of young Cesario and sent a servant after him with a diamond ring under the pretence that Cesario had left it behind with her as a present from Orsino.

= সে সংকল্প করল যে তার ভালোবাসার কথা যুবক সিজারি ওকে জানাবে এবং তাই একজন বৃত্তকে দিয়ে একটি হীরের আংটি তার জন্য পাঠালো উপহার হিসেবে সে এটা নিয়ে এসেছিল এবং ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে ভুলে গিয়েছে ।

90) She hoped by giving a present to Cesario artfully, she would give him some intimation of her intention.

= সে ভেবেছিল এই আংটি উপহার দিয়ে কৌশলে সে যুবক সিজারিওকে তার ভালোবাসার কথা ইঙ্গিত করবে ।

91) And truly, it made Viola suspect.

= এবং এতে সত্যিই ভাইরাস সন্দেহ হলো

92) She knew Orsino had not sent any ring through her to Olivia.

= সে জানত যে অচিনও তাকে দিয়ে অলিভিয়ার জন্য উপর হিসেবে কোন আংটি পাঠাননি

93)  So, she began to recollect her experience and found that Olivia’s looks and manner were expressive of admiration.

=আমি এখন দেখছি ছদ্মবেশে বড় দুষ্ট কেননা এর জন্য অলিভিয়াকে মিস ফল দীর্ঘস্বাস ফেলতে হচ্ছে যেমন অচেনার প্রতি আমার ভালবাসা নিষ্ফল

97) Viola returned to Orsino’s palace and narrated about her unsuccessful venture repeating the command of Olivia that the duke should not trouble her any more.

= অরসিনোর প্রাসাদে ফিরে এলো এবং তার ব্যর্থ প্রচেষ্টার কথা জানালো এবং আরো একবার অলিভিয়ার আদেশের কথা জানালো যে ডিউক তাকে যেন আর বিরক্ত না করেন ।

98) However, the duke hoped that the gentle Cesario would in time able to persuade her and therefore he bade him to go to her again on the next day.

= কিন্তু কেউ আশা করতে লাগলেন যে কিছুদিনের মধ্যে আস্তে আস্তে সিজারিও অলিভিয়াকে বুঝিয়ে রাজি করাতে পারবে তাই পরদিন তিনি তাকে আরো একবার যেতে আদেশ করলেন

99) In the meantime to pass away the tedious interval, Orsino desired for a song to be sung.

= ইতিমধ্যে এই অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন ব্যাকুল মুহূর্ত গুলির একঘেয়েমি কাটানোর জন্য তিনি একটি গান শোনানোর ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করে।

100) Viola did not fail to mark the words of the old song which described the pains of unrequited love.

= এই গানের মধ্যে যে ব্যর্থ প্রেমের যন্ত্রণার কথা লুকিয়ে রয়েছে তা বুঝতে ভায়োলার অসুবিধা হল না।

101) Her love looks were observed by Orsino who said to her, “My life upon it, Cesario, though you are so young, your eyes have look upon some face that it loves.

= তার মুখেও ভালোবাসার অভিব্যস্তি ফুটে উঠেছে, তা অরসিনোর চোখে পড়ে গেল। তিনি তাকে বললেন,“যদিও তোমার বয়স অনেক কম, তবুও আমি বাজি রেখে বলতে পারি যে, তোমার চোখই বলে দিচ্ছে যে এমন কেউ আছে যাকে তুমি ভালোবাসো।

102) Has it not boy?” Viola confessed, “A little, with your leave.”

= আছে কি না?” ভায়োলা স্বীকার করল, “তা কিছুটা ঠিক।”

103) “And what kind of woman, and of what age is she?” asked the duke.

= ডিউক জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “কেমন মহিলা সে, আর তার বয়সই বা কত?”

104) “Of your age and of your complexion,” said Viola, which made the duke smile to hear this young boy loved a woman so much older, and of a man’s dark complexion.

= “আপনার মতো বয়স এবং আপনারই মতো গায়ের রং, ভায়োলা বলল। এই শুনে ডিউক হেসে উঠলেন যে এই যুবক এমন একজনকে ভালোবাসে যে তার থেকে বয়সে বড়ো এবং পুরুষের মতো তার গায়ের রং।

105) When Viola revisited the house of Olivia, she found no difficulty in having access to her.

= যখন ভায়োলা আবার অলিভিয়ার বাড়িতে এল, তখন তার কাছে পৌছোতে আর অসুবিধা হল না।

106) The servants discovered that the moment Cesario arrived, the gates were thrown wide open and the duke’s page was shown into Olivia’s apartment with great respect.

= ভৃত্যরা লক্ষ করল যে যখনই সিজারিও পৌঁছাল, তখনই দরজা খুলে দেওয়া হল এবং ডিউক-এর অনুচরকে

সসম্মানে অলিভিয়ার কক্ষে নিয়ে যাওয়া হল।

107) When Cesario told Olivia that he had come once more to plead for Orsino, Olivia said, “I desire you should never of him again; but if would undertake another suit, I would rather hear you solicit than music from the airs.”

= যখন সিজারিও জানাল যে সে আরও একবার এসেছেঅরসিনোর হয়ে আর্জি নিয়ে, অলিভিয়া বলল, “আমি চাই যে তুমি আর কখনও ওঁর হয়ে এখানে এসো না; তবে আর কোনো প্রস্তাব যদি তুমি করতে, তাহলে হয়তো বাতাসের ভাসমান সংগীতের থেকে আমি তা শুনতে বেশি পছন্দ করতাম।”

108) This was plain speaking but Olivia soon expressed herself more plainly and openly and confessed her love.

= এটা ছিল খুব পরিষ্কার উত্তি কিন্তু শীগ্রই অলিভিয়া আরও পরিষ্কারভাবে তার মনের কথা জানাল এবং খোলাখুলি তার ভালোবাসার কথা সিজারিওর কাছে স্বীকার করল।

109) But the lady wooed in vain.

= কিন্তু সে বৃথাইএই প্রেম নিবেদন করল।

110) Viola left the place with haste and told her that would never again come to plead for Orsino’s love.

= ভায়োলা তাড়াতাড়ি সেখান থেকে চলে গেল এবং বলে গেল যে সে আর কোনোদিনও অরসিনোর হয়ে তার কাছে আসবে না।

111) No sooner had Viola left the lady than a claim was made upon her valour.

112)  A gentleman, whose suit was rejected by Olivia, challenged Viola to fight a duel.

113) Poor Viola, though dressed like a man, had a true woman’s heart and so she feared to look at her own sword.

115) But she was relieved at once from terror and shame of discovery by a stranger who was passing by.

= কিন্তু পাশ দিয়ে এক আগন্তুক তাকে এই ভয় এবং লজ্জা থেকে বাঁচাল।

116) He challenged her rival and said, “If this young gentleman has done any offence, I will take the fault on me, and if you offend him, I will accept for his sake and defy you.”

= সে তার প্রতিপক্ষকে চ্যালেঞ্জ জানিয়ে বলল, “এই যুবক যদি কোনো অপরাধ করে থাকে তাহলে আমি তার দায় নিচ্ছি; আর তুমি যদি ওর প্রতি খারাপ ব্যবহার করো তাহলে ওর হয়ে আমি লড়াই করব এবং তোমাকে উপযুক্ত শাস্তি দেব।”

117) Before Viola had time to thank him for her protection or to inquire the reason for interference, the officers of justice came up in that instance and demanded an answer for an offence he had committed some years ago.

= তার এই সাহায্যের জন্য ভায়োলা তাকে ধন্যবাদ জানানোর বা তার এই সহুদয়তার কারণ জানতে চাওয়ার আগেই,বিচার বিভাগের কিছু আধিকারিকেরা সেখানে এসে উপস্থিত হল এবং কয়েক বছর আগে তার এক অপরাধের জন্য কৈফিয়ৎ চাইল।

118) The gentleman then turned towards Viola and said, “Now my necessity makes me ask for my purse and it grieves me much more for what I cannot do for you, than for what befalls myself.

= ভদ্রলোক তখন ভায়োলার দিকে ফিরল এবং বলল, “আমার প্রয়োজনে এখন আমি বাধ্য হচ্ছি আমার টাকার থলেটা তোমার কাছে চাইতে । আমার এই অবস্থার কারণে তোমার জন্য কিছু করতে না পারার যন্ত্রণা আমাকে বেশি পীড়া দিচ্ছে।

119) You stand amazed but of comfort.”

= কিন্তু তুমি তো দেখছি স্বচ্ছন্দে হতবাক হয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে আছ।”

120) His words did surprise Viola and she that she did not know him, nor had she ever received any money from him.

= তার কথা শুনে ভায়োলা আশ্চর্য হল এবং সে প্রতিবাদ করে বলল, সে তাকে চেনে না, আর তার কাছ থেকে কখনও কোনো টাকাও সে নেয়নি।

121) However, she offered him a small sum of money for the benevolence he just showed to her.

122) The stranger became angry and charged her of ingratitude and unkindness.

125)  When Viola heard herself to be called Sebastian, she conjectured that she had been mistakenly identified with her brother.

= যখন ভায়োলা শুনল যে ওই যুবক তাকে সেবাসটিয়ান বলে ডাকছে, সে আন্দাজ করল যে তাকে তার ভাই ভেবে হয়তো ভুল করা হয়েছে।

126) Besides, she began to cherish hope that it was her brother whose life this this man had saved.

= এর পাশাপাশি সে এও আশা করতে লাগল যে এই ভদ্রলোকই হয়তো তার ভাই-এর জীবন বাঁচিয়েছে।

127) The stranger, Antonio, was the captain of a ship.

= এই আগন্তুক, যার প্রকৃত নাম ত্যান্টোনিও, ছিল একটি জাহাজের ক্যাপটেন।

128) He rescued Sebastian and gradually became a friend of him.

= সে সেবাসটিয়ানকে বাঁচিয়েছিল এবং ক্রমে তার বন্ধু হয়ে ওঠে।

129) When the youth expressed curiosity to visit Orsino’s court, Antonio came with him to Illyria though he knew that his life would be in danger as he had once dangerously wounded the duke’s nephew.

= যখন এই যুবক অরসিনোর রাজসভা দেখতে যাওয়ার কৌতুহল প্রকাশ করে, তখন আ্যান্টোনিও তার সঙ্গে ইলিরিয়ায় এসেছিল যদিও সে জানত যে তার বিপদ হতে পারে কারণ সে একবার ডিউক-এর ভাইপোকে মারাত্মকভাবে আহত করেছিল।

130) This was the offence for which he was now made a prisoner.

= যখন সেবাসটিয়ান শহর ঘুরে দেখতে গেল, তখন আ্যান্টোনিও তাকে নিজের টাকার থলেটা দিয়ে ইচ্ছেমতো ব্যবহার করতে দিয়েছিল।

133) Since Sebastian did not return at the scheduled hour, Antonio had ventured to look out for him and found Viola, her identical twin sister in the guise of a young man, whom he mistakenly identified to be Sebastian.

= যেহেতু নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে সেবাসটিয়ান সেখানে এসে পৌছোল না, ত্যান্টোনিও তাকে খুঁজতে বেরিয়ে পড়ল এবং তার যমজ বোন ভায়োলার সঙ্গে তার দেখা হয়ে গেল, যাকে সে ভুল করে সেবাসটিয়ান ভেবে

ফেলল।

134)  He drew out his sword to save the youth.

= সে এই যুবককে বাঁচাতে এগিয়ে এসেছিল।

135) When Viola refused to recognize him and did not hand over the purse to him, she was accused of ingratitude.

= যখন ভায়োলা তাকে চিনতে অস্বীকার করল এবং তার টাকার থলেটা তাকে ফিরিয়ে দিল না, তখন তাকে অকৃতজ্ঞ বলে অভিযোগ করা হয়েছিল।

136) When Antonio left, Viola returned home as fast as she could for she feared a second invitation to fight.

= যখন আ্যান্টোনিও চলে গেল, তখন ভায়োলা যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব বাড়ি ফিরতে শুরু করল কারণ তার

আশঙ্কা ছিল যে তাকে আবার লড়াই-এর মুখোমুখি হতে না হয়।

137) No sooner had she left the place, her twin brother Sebastian reached there.

= সেখান থেকে যেতে না যেতেই তার যমজ ভাই সেবাস্টিয়ান সেখানে এসে পৌছোল।

138)  Viola’s adversary thought he saw her return and attacked him; but Sebastian was not a coward and he drew his sword to face the duel.

= ভায়োলার প্রতিপক্ষ ভাবল যে সে ফিরে এসেছে এবং এই ভেবে তাকে আক্রমণ করল। কিন্তু সেবাসটিয়ান ভীত ছিল না এবং তাই সে তরোয়াল বার করে লড়াই-এর জন্য প্রস্তুত হল।

139) Meanwhile, Olivia came out of her house.

= ইতোমধ্যে, অলিভিয়া তার বাড়ি থেকে বেরিয়ে এল।

140) She also mistook Sebastian to be Cesario and invited him to come into the house.

== সেও সেবাসটিয়ানকে সিজারিও ভেবে ভুল করল এবং তাকে তার বাড়িতে আসতে আমন্ত্রণ করল।

141) She expressed much sorrow for the rude attack he had to combat.

142) Sebastian was as much surprised at the courtesy of the lady as at the rudeness of his unknown foe.

= একদিকে এই মহিলার সৌজন্য আর অন্য দিকে তার এই অজানা শত্রুর নিষ্ঠুর আক্রমণে সেবাস্টিয়ান খুব অবাক হয়ে গেল।

 143) However, he accepted the invitation and went into the house willingly.

= যাইহোক, সে আমন্ত্রণ গ্রহণ করল এবং স্বেচ্ছায় তার বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করল।

144) Olivia was delighted to find Cesario become more sensible of her attentions, for though his features were exactly the same like his sister, there was none of the contempt and anger to be seen in his face.

146)  He wondered if the lady was in her right senses, but perceiving that she was the mistress of the house and she ordered her affairs and seemed to govern her family discreetly, he well approved the courtship.

= তবে সে ভাবতে লাগল যে এই মহিলার মাথার ঠিক আছে কিনা  যখন সে দেখল যে এই মহিলা এই বাড়ির কর্ত্রী এবং তারই আদেশে এই বাড়িতে সবকিছু ঠিকঠাক চলছে, তখন সে তার প্রণয় প্রস্তাব গ্রহণ করল।

147)  Finding Cesario in such good humour, and fearing he might change his mind, Olivia proposed that they should married immediately.

= অলিভিয়া দেখল যে সিজারিও এখন খোশ মেজাজে রয়েছে এবং তার আশঙকা হল যে পরে তার মত পাল্টে যেতে পারে, তাই সে প্রস্তাব করল যে তাদের তাড়াতাড়ি বিয়ে করা উচিত।

148) Sebastian agreed to this proposal and their marriage was instantly solemnized.

= সেবাস্টিয়ান এই প্রস্তাবে সম্মত হল এবং তাদের বিবাহ তৎক্ষনাত সম্পন্ন হল ।

149) Soon after the marriage, Sebastian desired to go and tell his dear friend Antonio of the good fortune that he had met with.

150) In the meantime Orsino came to visit Olivia.

151) The moment he arrived before Olivia’s house, the officers of justice, brought their prisoner, Antonio, before the duke.

= অলিভিয়ার বাড়িতে পৌঁছোবার আগে বিচারবিভাগের লোকেরা বন্দি আ্যান্টোনিওকে এনে ডিউক-এর সামনে হাজির করল।

152) Viola accompanied her master.

= ভায়োলা তার প্রভুর সঙ্গে এসেছিল।

153) When Antonio saw Viola, whom he thought to be Sebastian, he told the duke in what manner he rescued the youth from the perils of the sea.

= যখন আ্যান্টোনিও ভায়োলাকে দেখল, সে তাকে আবার সেবাস্টিয়ান ভেবে ভুল করে ফেলল এবং ডিউক-কে বলল যে কীভাবে এই যুবককে সমুদ্রের বিপদের হাত থেকে সে বাঁচিয়েছিল।

154) He ended his complaint by saying that for three months this ungrateful youth had been with him.

= সে তার অভিযোগ এই বলে-শেষ করল যে গত তিন মাস ধরে এই অকৃতজ্ঞ যুবক তারই সঙ্গে ছিল।

155) Suddenly Olivia was seen coming out of the house.

= হঠাৎ অলিভিয়াকে বাড়ি .থেকে বেরোতে দেখা গেল।

156) The duke could no longer hear the story of Antonio.

157) He refused to believe in the story for the last months Cesario had been serving the duke.

= তা ছাড়া ডিউক এই গল্প বিশ্বাস করতে চাইলেন না কারণ গত তিনমাস ধরে সিজারিও তার ভৃত্য হিসেবে কাজ করছিল।

158) He ordered Antonio to be taken aside.

= তিনি আ্যান্টোনিওকে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য আদেশ করলেন ।

158) Soon the duke heard words of kindness from Olivia for his page boy Cesario which gave the duke cause to accuse him with ingratitude alike Antonio and threatened him with instant death.

= কিছুক্ষণ পর ডিউক লক্ষ করলেন যে অলিভিয়া এসে তার বালকতৃত্য সিজারিওকে উদ্দেশ্য করে আবেগের সঙ্গে কথা বলছে। এতে ডিউক রেগে গিয়ে আ্যান্টোনিওর মতোই ভুল করে তার প্রতি অকৃতজ্ঞতার অভিযোগ করলেন এবং তাকে তখনই মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়ার হুমকি দিলেন।

159) It seemed that the duke out of jealousy and anger would doom Viola, yet her love made her no longer a coward.

174) He now observed Viola with great attention and remembered that he had always thought how very handsome Cesario was.

= সে তখন ভায়োলাকে ভালো করে লক্ষ করল এবং তার মনে পড়ল যে তার সব সময় মনে হত যে সিজারিও কত সুন্দর ।

175)  He also remembered how often she had said that she loved him.

= তাঁর আরও মনে পড়ল যে কতবার সে তাঁকে বলেছে যে সে ডিউককে ভালোবাসে।

176) He concluded she would look very beautiful in a woman’s dress.

177) Hence, he resolved to make Viola his wife.

= তাই তিনি সংকল্প করলেন যে ভায়োলাকে তিনি তাঁর স্ত্রী হিসেবে গ্রহণ করবেন।

178) He said to Viola: “Boy, you have said to me a thousand times that you should never love a woman like to me, and for the faithful service you have done for me so much beneath your soft and tender breeding, and since you have called me master so long, you shall now be your master’s mistress, and Orsino’s true duchess.”

= তিনি ভায়োলাকে বললেন, “বালক, হাজার বার তুমি আমাকে ইঙ্গিত করে বলেছ যে কোনো মহিলাকে তুমি আমার মতো ভালোবাসতে পারবে না। অত্যন্ত বিশবস্ততার সঙ্গে তুমিএতদিন আমার সেবা করেছ, এমনকি তোমার সন্ত্রাস্ত বংশমর্যাদাকে তুচ্ছ করে; আর যেহেতু তুমি আমাকে এতদিন তোমার প্রভু বলে এসেছে, তাই এখন সেই প্রভুর মালকিন অর্থাৎ অরসিনোর উপযুস্ত স্ত্রী হবে”।

179) Olivia invited them to enter her house and offered the assistance of the good priest to solemnize the marriage of Orsino and Viola.
