কায়রো   মিশর   (ইজিপ্ট)

Ishan: So finally we are in Cairo.

= ইশান: তাহলে শেষ পর্যন্ত আমরা কায়রোতে এলাম ।

Mother:  We are going to Giza, Ishaan; to see the three pyramids.

= মা: ইশান, আমরা তিনটি বড়/ বিশাল পিরামিড দেখতে যাচ্ছি ।

Ishan:  what’s a pyramid, Ma?

= ইশান : মা, পিরামিড কি?

Mother: A pyramid is a huge triangular monument. The burial ground of the Pharaohs.

= মা : পিরামিড হল একটি প্রকান্ড ত্রিকোনাকার সৌধ । এটি ফ্যারাওদের সমাধিক্ষেত্র ।

Ishan:   And who is a Pharaoh?

ইশান:  ফ্যারাও কে?

Mother: A Pharaoh is an Egyptian King. The Pharaohs lived around five thousand years ago.

= মা : ফ্যারাও একজন মিশরীয় রাজা । ফ্যারাওরা আজ থেকে অনুমানিক পাঁচ হাজার বছর আগে বাস করত । (Egyptian-  ইজিপশিয়ান )

Ishan:  We are going to see so many interesting things. I wish father had come with us.

= ইশান : আমরা অনেক আকর্ষণীয় জিনিস দেখতে যাচ্ছি  । আমার মনে হয় বাবা আমাদের সঙ্গে আসলে ভালো হতো । (interesting-ইন্টেরেস্টিং)

Mother: The prize I won at the singing competition entitled only two for a sponsored tour of Egypt. Your father wanted you and me to come.

মা: যে সংগীত প্রতিযোগিতায় আমি যে পুরস্কার জিতেছিলাম তাতে কেবল দুজনেরই মিশর ভ্রমণের ব্যবস্থা ছিল । তোমার বাবা চেয়েছিল তুমি এবং আমি আসি । (competition-কম্পিটিশান, entitled-এনটাইটেলড, sponsored- স্পনসর্ড)

Ishan:  What’s that ma that, Ma?

= ওটা কি মা ?

Mother: That’s the Sphinx, Ishan.  it’s a rocks statue with a human head and the lion’s body.

মা : ইশান ওটা স্ফিংস । এটা একটা পাথরের মূর্তি যার মাথাটা মানুষের আর দেহটা সিংহের ।   (rock—রক, statue-স্ট্যাচু )

Mother:  The Sphinx represents Intelligence and strength. It guards the pyramids.

মা : স্ফিংস বুদ্ধি ও শক্তির প্রতীক । এটি পিরামিডগুলিকে পাহারা দেয় । (represent- রিপ্রেজেন্ট, intelligence – ইন্টেলিজেন্স , strength-স্ট্রেন্থ )

Mother:  it’s going to be quite a long walk in the sun. Wait here. I will go fetch a couple of sandwiches and water from the Car.

মা : আমাদের অনেকক্ষণ হাঁটতে হবে । এখানে এখানে অপেক্ষা করো । আমি গাড়ি থেকে একটু জল আর স্যান্ডউইচ নিয়ে আসি ।

Sphinx:  Ishaan Ishaan Ishaan

স্ফিংস : ঈশান ঈশান ঈশান ।

Ishan:  Ma,  the Sphinx is talking to me!

=  ইশান: মা , স্ফিংস আমার সাথে কথা বলছে ।

( Ishan’s mother was already gone)

= ইশানের মা ততক্ষনে চলে গেছেন ।

Ishan:  How do you know my name?

ইশান : তুমি আমার নাম জানলে কিভাবে ?

 Sphinx: I know many things. I know you are Ishan from Raiganj. You study in class 6. Do you want to know the history of this place?

= স্ফিংস : আমি অনেক জিনিস জানি । আমি জানি তুমি রায়গঞ্জের ঈশান । তুমি ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণীতে পড়ো । তুমি এই জায়গাটির ইতিহাস জানতে চাও ?

Ishan:  I don’t like studying history. I can’t remember dry facts.

ইশান: আমি ইতিহাস পড়া পছন্দ করিনা । আমি শুষ্ক তথ্য মনে রাখতে পারিনা ।

Sphinx:  I will show you something you will never forget. close your eyes and open them again.

স্ফিংস : আমি তোমাকে এমন কিছু দেখাব যা তুমি কখনো ভুলবে না । তোমার চোখ বন্ধ করো এবং সেগুলি আবার খোলো।  

 Ishan Egypt is the gift of the river Nile. You are not standing by the Nile. Now close your eye and open them again.

= ঈশান মিশর নীলনদের দান । তুমি এখন নীল নদের ধারে দাঁড়িয়ে । এখন তোমার চোখ বন্ধ করো আর আবার খোলো ।

Around 5000 years ago a great Civilization flourished in Egypt, mainly laid by the Pharaohs. The kings were wise and the soldiers were brave.

= আজ থেকে 5000 বছর আগে এক মহান সভ্যতা মিশরে বিকশিত হয়েছিল প্রধানত ফ্যারাওদের নেতৃত্বে । রাজারা জ্ঞানী ছিল এবং সৈনিকরা সাহসী ছিল । (civilization- সিভিলাইজেশান, flourished-ফ্লারিসড, )

Ancient Egypt was also land of prosperity and festivals.

= প্রাচীন মিশর উৎসব এবং সমৃদ্ধির ভূমি ছিল । (prosperity-প্রসপারিটি, festivals-ফেস্টিভ্যালস)

Ishan:  O Sphinx,  tell me about the pyramids the pyramids.

= ও স্ফিংস, আমাকে পিরামিড সম্পর্কে বল ।

Sphinx: The Pyramids were funerary edifices of the pharaohs. Pharaoh Khufu’s pyramid is the biggest pyramid.

=  স্ফিংস : পিরামিড হলো ফ্যারাওদের সমাধি সৌধ । ফ্যারাও খুফুর পিরামিড হল সবচেয়ে বড়ো পিরামিড । (funerary- ফিউনেরারি, edifices-এডিফাইসেস)

Before the burial of the bodies of the royal person had to go through mummification.

= রাজাদের দেহগুলি কে কবর দেয়ার আগে মমি করা হতো । (মামিফিকেশান)

The Egyptian Priests found a way to preserve the dead bodies. Spices, Chemicals and oils are used by them. That is how they made a Mummy.

= মিশরীয় পুরোহিতরা মৃতদেহগুলোকে সংরক্ষণ করার একটা পথ খুঁজে পেয়েছিল । বিভিন্ন ধরনের তেল মশলা পাতি ও রাসায়নিক পদার্থ তারা তাদের দ্বারা ব্যবহার করা হতো । এইভাবে তার একটা মমি তৈরি করত ।

Look that Queen Nefertiti perhaps; the most beautiful queen of Egypt.

= দেখো ওটা রানী নেফারতিতি ; তিনি সম্ভবত মিশরের সবচেয়ে সুন্দরী রানী ।

He is the King Tutenkhamun who died in his teens. His body is preserved as Mummy.

= ও হল রাজা তুতেন খামুন যিনি তরুন অবস্থায় মারা গিয়েছিলেন ।  তার শরীর মমি হিসাবে সংরক্ষিত আছে ।

That’s Howard Carter who discovered Tutenkhamun’s tomb in 1922.

= ওটা হল হাওয়ার্ড কার্টার যিনি তুতেন খামুনের সমাধি ১৯৯২খ্রিস্টাব্দে আবিষ্কার করেছিলেন ।

= মা: আমি তোমার কাছ থেকে চলে যাওয়ার পর দেখছি তুমি সেখান থেকে নড়োনি ।

= এবার আমরা খুফুর পিরামিড এবং তুতেন খামুনের সমাধি সৌধ দেখতে যাব ।

Ishan:  Maa Khufu’s  pyramid is the largest in Egypt and Tutenkhamun was a teen emperor!

= ইশান : মা, খুফুর পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম পিরামিড এবং তুতেন খামুন একজন কিশোর সম্রাট ছিলেন ।

Mother:  I’m immensely surprised that parallels of Egyptian history is so well known to you, Ishan!  Are you beginning like  history?

= মা : ইশান , আমি এই ভেবে অবাক হচ্ছি যে তারাও এবং মিশরের ইতিহাস সম্পর্কে তোমার এত কিছু জানো তুমি তুমি কি ইতিহাস পছন্দ করতে শুরু করেছো ।

Ishan:  yes.

= ইশান: হ্যাঁ
