Unit-2

1)There was an     old mango tree in  a      farmer‘s garden.

= একটি চাষীর বাগানে একটি বড় আমগাছ ছিল।

2) It was very old.

  = এটি ছিল খুব পুরানো / বুড়ো ।

3) So, it  stopped   bearing fruits.

 = তইএটি ফলধরা বন্ধ করেদিয়েছিল (হয়েগিয়েছিল) ।  (stopped-স্টপড, bearing-বেয়ারিং)

4) It only gave shelter to the sparrows, butterflies and squirrels.

= এটি কেবল চড়াই প্রজাপতি এবং কাঠবিড়ালিদের আশ্রয়দিত।  (shelter- শেলটার, sparrow-স্প্যারো)

5) The tree was completely useless to the farmer.

    (useless-ইউসলেস)

= গাছটি চাষীর কাছে একেবারে বেকার / অকাজের( নিঃস্প্রয়জন) বা কোন কাজেরছিল না ।

6) One day he decided to cut down the tree.

= একদিন সে গাছটিকে কেটেফেলবে স্থির করলো ।    (decided-ডিসাইডেড)

7) So he took a   sharp axe and stuck at the trunk of the tree.

= তাই সে একটি ধারালো কুঠারনিল এবং গাছটির গুঁড়িটিতে আঘাতকরল ।

(sharp-সার্প্, axe-অ্যাক্স, struck-স্ট্রাক trunk-ট্রাঙ্ক)

8) At once all the creatures living in the tree requested the farmer, “Please

don‘t cut down this tree.

= সঙ্গে সঙ্গে গাছে থাকা সমস্ত প্রাণীরা চাষীকে অনুরোধ করলো, ‘দয়াকরে গাছটি কেটো না’ ।

(creatures-ক্রিয়েচারস, requested-রিকুয়েস্টেড)

9) It is  our home.”

=  এটি আমাদের ঘর ।

10) But the farmer did not listen to them. 

= কিন্তু চাষীটি তাদের কথা শুনলনা ।  (listened-লিসেনড)

11)  So the sparrows, butterflies and squirrels left  the tree.

= তাই চড়াইরা, প্রজাপতিরা এবং কাঠবিড়ালীরা গাছটি  ছেড়ে চলে গেল । (left-লেফ্ট)

12) The farmer was in a hurry to finish off his work.

= চাষটি তার কাজ তাড়াতাড়ি শেষ করার চেষ্টা করলো ।  (hurry- হারি, finish-ফিনিশ)

13) Suddenly, he saw something in the hollow of the tree.

= হঠাৎ সে গাছের গর্তের মধ্যে / কোটরের মধ্যে কিছু দেখল ।  (suddenly-সাডেনলি, hollow-হলো)

14) What did he see ?

   = সে কি দেখলো ?

15) “A beehive! Full of honey !” he said.

 = সে বলল, “একটি মৌচাক মধুতে ভর্তি!”   (beehive-বি-হাইভ)

16) He tasted the honey.

   = সে মধুটি চেখে দেখল ।    (tasted-টেস্টেড)

17) “How sweet!” he said.

   = সে বলল, “কি মিষ্টি!”

18) The farmer understood that the tree was not useless.

= চাষীটি বুঝতে পেরেছিল যে গাছটি বেকার (বেকার/অকাজের) ছিল না ।  (understood-আন্ডারস্টুড) 

19) “How foolish I was!

    = আমি কতই না বোকা !

20)  No tree can be useless,” he said to himself.

= সে নিজেকে বলল, “কোনো গাছ বেকার (অকাজের) হতে পারে না” ।

21) He stopped striking at the tree and went away.

= সে গাছটিতে আঘাত করা থামাল এবং চলে গেল ।      (striking-স্ট্রাইকিং)

22) The sparrows, the butterflies and the squirrels were    all happy.

= চড়াইরা, প্রজাপতিরা এবং কাঠবিড়ালীরা সকলে খুশি হয়েছিল ।

23) They all came back to their home.

= তারা সকলে তাদের ঘরে ফিরে এসেছিল ।
