The Grasshopper and the Ants

Let’s read:

1) One summer’s day a grasshopper(গ্রাসহপার) was hopping(হপিং) about in a field.

= এক গ্রীষ্ণের দিনে একটি গঙ্গাফড়িং এক মাঠের চারপাশে লাফিয়ে বেড়াচ্ছিল ।

 2) He was chirping(চ্রিপিং) and singing merrily.

 = মনের সে আনন্দে কিচিরমিচির করছিল এবং গান করছিলো ।

3) A   group of ants walked (ওয়াকড) past him.

= একদল পিঁপড়ে তার পাশ দিয়ে হেঁটে যাচ্ছিল ।

4) They carried(ক্যারিড) plump (পাম্প)seeds of corn (কর্ন্).

= তারা শাঁসালো শস্য বীজ/দানা নিয়ে যাচ্ছিল ।

5) “Where are you going with those heavy things?” asked the grasshopper.

 = গঙ্গাফড়িং জিজ্ঞাসা করেছিল, “তোমারা ওই ভারী জিনিসগুলো নিয়ে কোথায় যাচ্ছো ?”

6) Without (উইদাউট)stopping, the first ant replied(রিপ্লাইড), “To our ant        hill.

= না থেমে প্রথম উত্তর দিয়েছিল,  “আমাদের পিঁপড়েদের পাহাড়ে” ।

7)  This is the third seed I am carrying(ক্যারিং) today.”

=আজ আমি তৃতীয় দানা বয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছি ।

8) “Why are you working (ওয়ারকিং) so hard (হার্ড্)?

=এত কঠোর কেন তোমরা এত কঠোর পরিশ্রম করছো/ কাজ করছ ?

9) Why don’t you come and     sing   with me?” said the grasshopper.

 = গঙ্গাফড়িং বলল,  “কেন তোমরা আমার সাথে আসছ না এবং গান করছ না ?”

10) “We are helping to     store   food for winter.

 =আমরা শীতের জন্য খাবার মজুত করার চেষ্টা করছি ।

11) You should(শুড) also do the same,” said the ant.

= পিঁপড়েটি বলল, “তোমার ও একই কাজ করা উচিত”  ।

12) “Winter is far away.

= শীত অনেক দূরে,

13) It is   a    lovely(লাভলি) day to play,”sang the grasshopper.

 = খেলার জন্য এটি এক সুন্দর দিন”,  গঙ্গাফড়িং গান করতে লাগল ।

14) But the ants went on their way.

 = কিন্তু পিঁপড়েরা তাদের পথে চলে গেল ।

15) They continued(কন্টিনিউড) with their hard work.

= তারা তাদের কঠোর পরিশ্রম চালিয়ে যেতে লাগল ।

16) The weather(ওয়েদার) soon turned(টার্ন্ড) cold.

 = আবহাওয়া শীঘ্রই শীতল হলো ।

17) A thick white blanket(ব্ল্যাংকেট) of snow covered all the food lying in the field.

= মাঠে পড়ে থাকা সমস্ত খাবারের উপর ঘন সাদা তুষারের/বরফের কম্বলে  ঢাকা পড়ে গেল ।

18) The grasshopper could not find     any food.

= গঙ্গাফড়িং কোনো খাবার খুঁজে পেল না ।

19) He went to the ants’ hill.

= সে পিঁপড়েদের পাহাড়ের কাছে গেল ।

20) He saw that the ants had stored(স্টোরড) enough(এনাফ) food for winter.

=  সে দেখল যে পিঁপড়েরা শীতের জন্য যথেষ্ট খাবার মজুদ করেছে ।

21)  He begged(বেগড) them for something to eat.

 = সে তাদের কাছে কিছু খাবার প্রার্থনা করল ।

22) “What! “cried(ক্রায়েড) the ants in surprise(সারপ্রাইস), ”Haven’ t you stored

anything for the winter?

= “কি?’ , পিঁপড়েরা বিস্ময়ে চিৎকার করল, “তুমি শীতের জন্য কিছু মজুত করোনি ?”

23) What were you doing all summer?”

= সারা গ্রীষ্মকাল ধরে তুমি কি করছিলে ?

24) “I didn’t have time to store    any food,” said the grasshopper.

= গঙ্গাফড়িং বলল, “আমার মজুদ করার মতো খাবার মজুদ করার মতো কোনো সময় ছিল না” ।

25) “I  was so busy playing music.”

= আমি গান করতে ব্যস্ত ছিলাম ।

26) The ants shook(শুক) their heads in disgust(ডিসগাস্ট).

= পিঁপড়েরা তাদের মাথা বিরক্তিতে নাড়ালো

27) They turned(টার্ন্ড) their backs on the grasshopper and went on with their

work.

= তারা গঙ্গা ফড়িং এর দিকে পিঠ করল এবং তাদের কাজে চলে গেল ।
