A vast area of Howrah including Rajapur, Udaynarayanpur was seriously affected by a devastating flood.

 কতকগুলি বাক্য্ যেগুলি যে কোনো দুর্ঘটনায়  লেখা যায় —

১) ফলে ৪০ জন মারা গেল ।   [ As a result at least 40 persons / passengers were killed.]

২) প্রায় ২২ জন গুরুতর আহত হয়েছেন ।   [ At least 22 persons were seriously injured. ]

৩) দুর্ঘটনার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে স্থানীয় লোকজন উদ্ধার  কার্যে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েছিলেন । [ Immediately after the accident the local people jumped into rescue work. ]

৪) আহত লোকজনদের স্থানীয় হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাওয়া হচ্ছে ।

  [ Injured persons were taken to the local hospital by the local people and police. ]

৫) তাদের মধ্যে ৩ জনকে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসার পর ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং বাকীদের ভর্ত্তি করে নেওয়া হয়েছে ।[ 3 of them were let off after first aid and rest were hospitalised. ]

৬) ভীতি এবং উত্তেজনা গোটা এলাকায় ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে ।।[ Terror and bereavement loom large in the entire area. ]

Birbhum, October 1 : A vast area of Birbhum including Geedha and Labhpur was seriously affected by a devastating flood [ A devastating flood had swept over the parts of Birbhum including Geedha and Labhpur ] The flood was caused by a heavy rainfall which the districts has not seen in 100 years. Besides river Ajoy developed a breach in weak embarkment making the situation critical. As a result about 2.5 lakh people were affected. There was no news of any death. But cattle and other domestic animals were lost. Crops of the vast fields were washed away. Numerous mud houses were collapsed. Some areas were out of bounds. People were almost without food and drinking water. Government and other welfare organizations were jumped into rescue work. Men, women and children were carried to safer places in boats. Foods , clothes were supplied to the victims. The Government had paid compensation.    [ Words –  145 ]

DEVASTATING FLOOD IN KHANAKUL

 Khanakul, September 10:  A devastating flood hit several parts of Khanakul  this week. The most affected areas were Chatrrasal, Balipur. The cause of the flood was stated to be the continuous rainfall during the past few days. The release of huge quantity of water from the DVC worsened the situation. Consequently hundreds of cattle were lost. Thousands of houses were collapsed. Crops of the field were washed away. A few deaths of human being was also reported. People have taken on a Blinds and school buildings. They were without food or cloth. The relief materials have been sent to the affected areas. The rescue and relief work is being seriously hampered because of the foul weather. Many welfare organization jumped into the rescue work. The state government has announced compensation.

DEVASTATING FLOOD IN JALPAIGURI

Jalpaiguri, 11 July:  A devastating flood hit the wide areas of Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar at the early hours of 10 July. Heavy rain and water release from dams brought about this. Much damage has been caused to the life and property. About 50 persons died. Where as several persons were missing. Drinking water and power supply were affected badly vast areas. Hundreds of cattle were lost. Food packets, medicine and clothes are dropped from the air. The people took shelter at school and colleges .Government and welfare organisation on rescue work. Compensation has been an announced by State Government.
